Product Description

Lord Ganesh, who is the son of Mata Parvati and Shiva, has been worshipped always at the beginning of every auspicious occasion. He took birth from the most powerful union of the cosmos and adopts the body of a human and head of a baby elephant. He is known from a lot of names like Ganapati, Sumukha, Gajanana, Vinayaka, Lambkarna, Kapila and many more. When we come to the history behind this puja, it is quite confusing. And there are many legends around Lord Ganesha and the most fabled one is about how he got the elephant head. Because sometimes it is believed that Ganesha didn’t take birth from the womb of Parvati. According to mythology he was created by Mata Parvati from her own skin to safeguard her and named him Vinayaka and breathed life. As those days Shiva was away for meditation and when he returned Vinayaka confronted him and did not allow him to go inside. In anger Lord Shiva lost his control and beheaded him. After this incident Parvati was left in despair and to console her Shiva asked his Ganas to get the head of a first living creature with his head in north direction. And then they came back with the head of a baby elephant. Shiva joined the baby elephant’s head over Vinayaka’s body with his divine powers and announced him the Head of the Ganas. That is why his name is Ganesha. Not only had this to further assure Parvati, Shiva along with Lord Brahma’s consent also announced that Ganesha would be ardently worshipped by one. Ganesha is also known for his intelligence and wisdom that removes the darkness around and provides enlightenment.

Ganesh chaturthi pooja/puja vidhi does not include too many ritualistic steps and anyone can perform a normal puja at home. Firstly we have to take a bath, prepare the place of worship and place an idol of Lord Ganesha on a betel leaf that is placed on a wooden low lying table. Apart from this, go ahead with all normal puja vidhi and chant mantras like,

Om Gam Ganpataye Namah|

Vakra-Tunndda Maha-Kaaya Surya-Kotti Samaprabha|
Nirvighnam Kuru Me Deva Sarva-Kaaryeshu Sarvadaa||

Om Shreem Hreem Kleem Glaum Gum Ganapataye,
